- Greet the author with their name; it is polite that way.
- Share your thoughts in short; don’t fluff.
- If you have questions or want to learn a specific part of the topic, don’t hesitate to ask.
- Appreciate the author at the end for the effort they put in.
- Be respectful.
- Don’t comment without thoroughly reading the post.
- Don’t use fake or business names. Always use your real name.
- Don’t be promotional.
- Don’t repeat what the post just said.
- Don’t add links in your comment unless necessary.
Blog commenting for SEO and traffic?
Most say that blog commenting adds to your SEO efforts. That’s not totally true. The link from any blog comment is a no-follow by default, not a Google rankings vote.
Just imagine, if building backlinks were as easy as building links via blog commenting, why would businesses waste their big money on link-building campaigns? That makes sense, right?
However, having a combination of nofollow and dofollow links to your website implies a healthy and legit link profile to the search engines.

When blog commenting, be sure to mention the author’s name. It’s like you are chatting in person.
“Hi Mudassir, how are you today? I love what you wrote about xyx, but I agree or don’t agree about xyz.”
Then add some other information to the post if applicable. End with “have a great day or week.” Make it more personable with your commenting. I try to comment on at least 5 blog posts per day.

For the rule of measurement, target influencers with Domain Authority (DA) are between 25 – 50. Not advisable to go for anything below or beyond.
As you might have guessed, Influencers are pretty busy. Don’t expect to get noticed soon. Crave for longevity, and build a better relationship via weekly commenting on different posts.
By the time you continue this approach for 8 weeks, you are no more a visitor. Many influencers already have you on their radar. It’s then easy to pitch them (Guest Posts or Backlinks).
Blog commenting is authentic, effective, and a more brilliant way to get seen online after starting a new blog. But it is not an overnight deal; it works great for the long-haul players.
